Insurance Industry Town Hall

September 2, 2020

Picture this: A hurricane makes landfall on a popular tourist island, causing, among other wide area damage, a bank to lose power. With that loss of power, the bank loses data connection, communication, and causes a significant amount of downstream impact.

The third session in our CAT Response 2020 Insurance Industry Town Hall Series explored unexpected sides of BI affected by utility interruption. Using the fictitious island created in our second Town Hall, our expert panel used their real world experience working on significant hurricanes to help adjusters, brokers, and other insurance professionals understand what makes BI claims under utility interruption especially unique.

Key Takeaways

  • Learn about challenges faced during utility interruption through a case study of Silly Bank
  • Understand 4 layers of considerations when it comes to calculating loss
  • Recognize the nuances of transactions impacted
  • Hear firsthand how an adjuster would interpret the policy based on the scenario presented
