Insurance Industry Town Hall
SESSION #4
September 16, 2020
Our CAT Response 2020 Town Hall series continues our portrayal of a fictitious island and how a particular hotel was impacted by the recent hurricane. This blended hotel case study explores – from the standpoint of adjusting and claims accounting – both the common and unexpected challenges of managing hospitality disruption due to a hurricane event.
Watch this town hall to learn from our panelists' experience in claims accounting and adjusting for some of the major catastrophes in recent history (Katrina, Harvey, oil spills, 9/11, and claims related to social unrest in 2020), along with their extensive experience with high-rise and mid-rise hotels.
Topics covered include:
- A brief discussion of policy, common forms and triggers for coverage
- How ingress, egress, and contingent business interruption play into coverage
- Common challenges forensic accountants and adjusters must address
- Why some hotels actually make more money in the wake of a hurricane
